Paralysed biker back in the saddle again

A motorcyclist who was paralysed in a crash ten year ago has ridden his 160mph superbike for the first time after spending £12,000 on special stabilisers

The stabilisers, which fold down like aircraft landing gear, were fitted to the Honda by Eagle One, an engineering firm in Bridgwater, Somerset. They enable him to bring the bike to a standstill without falling over. The bike has also been adapted so that the controls normally operated by foot are controlled from the handlebars.

Mr. Griffiths, from Bristol, has been confined to a wheelchair since he was in collision with a car on a roundabout.

After completing the test ride he said `That was the most exhilarating ride of my life. It is a moment that I never thought would come. It has been a long, hard struggle but it is all worth it to be able to ride again.
